1. On what day do you celebrate Thanksgiving?
I started hearing about this last week or so. Apparently some families, because of work or travel or lack of tradition, observe T-Day on the Sunday of the traditionally long weekend. Not at our house. The hole affair is steeped in tradition, from the smell of the turkey in the morning to the parades and football games on television. It all must be combined on the last Thursday of November, or the whole deal doesn’t count.
2. How do you traditionally celebrate this food filled holiday?
Big breakfast with champagne mimosas in the morning. Very traditional meal and watching of the football. Usually ending with a few games of cards and watching a film of some sort on the telly.
3. How do you like your stuffing cooked (in the bird, separately in a dish, store bought, etc.)?
Separately. In this part of the country, it is fairly uncommon for folks to stuff their bird, at least among the natives. I don’t know why that is, but there it is. I have yet to discern any noticeable difference in taste for either the bird of the dressing when served as two dishes.
4. What is your favorite dessert to eat on Thanksgiving and who makes it?
My mom’s pecan pie. Simple decadence served on a plate.
5. Can you name five things you are thankful for?
I have a job. My car is paid off. My mother is truly happy. My sister is truly happy. Jessica Simpson is getting divorced.

1) Always Thursday.
2) Generally it is fairly relaxing. We do go to the Fam’s house for food, but that is only 3 to 4 hours of the day. otherwise, it is just plain vacation.
3) Stuffing out. In the bird creates the perfect germ-ridden excuse for soppy bread cubes. Not to mention that the poop-chute is is n the inside of the bird and my momma taught me not to cook where you poop.
4) Stuffing, out of the turkey, not in the poop chute.
5) My wife, my life, living in the best state in the country, step-son is doing great in college and I still can pay my mortgage.
1. Well this is news to me—celebrating on some other day than the actual day? What gives Nall, are you hanging out with a bunch of Arabs or Wal-Mart employees? Who else works on 4th Thursday of November? I’m old school—I like it on *the* day, not some ersatz holiday.
2. For each of the 26 years of my life, I’ve either been at my parent’s house, or my [now deceased] grandparent’s house, eating largely the same menu each year. A traditionally overcooked turkey, our family’s rather bizarre take on stuffing (it’s kind of like a sausage stuffing, with the addition of cubed cooked potatoes—saves you the need to have mashers of any kind), homemade rolls, pies, etc. The big meal is begun with one of my father’s [also] bizarre prayers—one never knows when he/she is going to be singled out for divine intervention from Al. The rest of the day is relegated to clean-up, naps, and then in early evening, we rally again for sandwiches and pie. Very low-key, but . . ..it’s all I know.
3. Due to the risk of bacterial poisoning, stuffing should be cooked separately. Not only does this cut down on awful food-borne illnesses, but it also ensures a pan full of stuffing with a crispy crust. Now who donÂ’t love that?
4. My momÂ’s Bourbon pecan pie. Nothing revs up the taste of pie quite like a zippy cup of Jack Daniels.
5. My thick lustrous hair, NASCAR, K-Mart doorbuster specials, CheetoÂ’s, and Diet Dr. Pepper.
Seriously? That my family is doing fine, and that despite our respective challenges, that we can get together once in a while. Health. A cadre of good reliable friends. That IÂ’m doing okay financially. And of course, my thick, lustrous hair.
!) I’ve always celebrated T-Day on the last Thursday of November. Should that ever change though, I doubt I would mind.
@) All but 2 years I’ve celebrated with my parental units. The first non-fam version was spent in Steamboat with too many Cosmopolitans & the second was spent with a new family o’ friends I have acquired.
#) I have no idea. It’s always been good or great (especially Jenn’s this year).
$) Any one of Sage’s magical pies.
%) My health, Thom, my parental units & immediate family, all friends, all art: music, film, literature, etc…
1. This is the first I’ve heard of anyone NOT celebrating on the last Thursday of November. Is that a Craig thing? What the hell?
2. The whole clan usually gathers at Mom’s and the chaos ensues. Football, booze, turkey, mashed potatoes, pie, more booze, naps and cards.
3. Both. My sister in law makes a great cornbread stuffing and she cooks some in the bird and some in a pot. This is the first I’ve heard of the danger of cooking it in the bird. What the fuck? You couldn’t have sent this out a couple of days earlier?
4. Mom’s apple pie. I know. Very cliché, but its G.D. good.
5. I have a job, terrific friends, a great family, a warm place to sleep, a car, and T.O got kicked out of the NFL. Couldn’t have happened to a more deserving bloke. Karma baby!
Oh, and high speed internet.
1. thursday. i feel that anyone who doesnt celebrate this holiday on the proper thursday is a communist. get lost, pinko.
2. i drive up to my mom’s in evergreen and eat, drink, play cards and be merry. occasionnaly i have to drive out to my dad’s aterwards and do the same things..but lately my t-day evenings have been occupied by tons o’ booze at mark & robert’s.

2. Meals with the parental units, Reid’s mamma and/or my other family at Mark & Robert’s.

5. My fiyance, my family, friends, health and my job(s).
