1. What jobs are disappearing because of AI, but no one seems to notice?
I work in call center management, and the most significant AI push right now is for the Quality Assurance team, which listens to calls and scores them to ensure consistent service. Most of that work is now being handled by AI bots to monitor and score. We will have to re-purpose about 12 employees as they are no longer needed.
2. How do you deal with a chronically negative person?
Bluetooth headphones.
3. What was your first long-distance drive?
We drove from Stuttgart to London on aquick run over a three-day weekend while in the army.
4. What’s a small thing that instantly makes your day better?
A freshly roasted and brewed cup of coffee from the French press.
5. What small thing can just ruin your day?
Breakfast eggs when the yolk got broken in the skillet.

1) Still TBD in my industry. Copyediting/proofing is definitely moving into AI. We now use AI to double check our proofers, as they miss stuff sometimes, so makes sense eventually no need for them. I am diversified in my little world enough that I do a whole slew of jobs, that I hope AI will not come for all of me.
2) First, redirect. Then if that doesn’t work, avoid.
3) I grew up in a road trippin’ family, so the first super long trip was driving from Colorado to San Carlos, Mexico. 3 days to complete, across a couple states and about 260 miles across the middle of Mexico to the gulf of California side. I did that drive a few times, once sleeping in the middle of some Mexican desert on the tramp of a catamaran we were taking with us. It made sense to me as a kid, but now WTF.
4) Taking a moment after getting up to sit, have a cup of coffee and be calm.
5) Forgetting something important that was on a deadline.
1) In health care most of the AI stuff is recognizing patterns. Going through tissue samples identifying normal cells and irregular cells. I’m still needed for now.
2) If possible ignore. If not possible ask them to stop talking. If that doesn’t work avoid. If unavoidable and not taking advice either tell them to shut up or put in headphones.
3) When we moved to Boston we drove to camp in northern Michigan. Then from there got picked up and drove to Minnesota then back to camp the following year. Then by myself from Gunnison to Vegas a few times. Denver to northern Michigan and back to Denver.
4) Being awake before everyone else enjoying the calm and quiet with a cup of coffee.
5) A surgeon with a shitty attitude and no respect or patience.
