The Friday Fives

1. What is that one simple unspoken lifehack you got from your parents that you realize is just part of your life?

Keeping my kitchen knives very sharp. My dad was a meat cutter by trade before joining the post office and sharp knives in the kitchen were just part of life. It is confounding when I am at someones house and need to use a knife to prep something for a meal and the dang knifes have no edge.

2. What is something that you’re tired of seeing in 2025?

That God Damned face of Mother Quacking Donald Trump! Just make it end !!!

3. What’s the average amount of time you take to shower?

From entering the bathroom to exit I can shit, shower, shave soap, rinse, shampoo, condition, brush teeth, comb hair, take the pills and do the sinus rinse, dress top to toes in under 3 minutes.

4. You’re back in 2008 with your current knowledge. What’s the first thing you do?

Buy a couple of houses during the real estate crash and hold on to them long enough to flip them for a sweet profit.

5. You get $1M, but the last thing you Googled becomes your full-time job. What’s your new job?

A few crossword puzzle clues (I needed a quick hint.) So I guess my full-time job would become a professional crossword solver. I could live with that.

  1. 1) When broiling salmon (which is quick and yummy) leave the oven door cracked so the heating elements stay on.

    2) I do love news, but I hate, hate, hate clickbait headlines.

    3) My wife would say not enough, but I would say to actually shower is 5 minutes head to toe.

    4) Started looking for a job, since my current one in 2008 was going to crush my self confidence and make my life hll, right when I had 3 small children. So, you know, I had to suck it up to pay the bills.

    5) Buying and installing solar bird bath fountains. Sounds kinda nice.

  2. 1) Do the dishes before you go to bed. Waking up to dishes is the worst.

    2) MAGA fools justifying the violations to the constitution and flagrant racism of the Republican Party.

    3) I can be in & out of the shower in 5. But with a tankless water heater I like to stand for a while under the endless hot water.

    4) would have started the process for becoming a CAA then. And invested any extra $$ in Invidia. I’d have a much better head start on retirement.

    5) I googled Lucid Motors. So maybe a test driver for a kick ass EV manufacturer. I’m ok with that.
