Ubuntu Is Probably My Future

It is no secret that I am running Ubuntu on my home systems.

As an operating system is runs great and for the most part I have not looked back. My desktop compter runs on a clean install of Ubuntu/SuperOS 9.10. Trouble free/preconfigured installation. Install, sit back and enjoy. I use Wubi install on my laptop and the only reason that machine hasn’t gone full Ubuntu is Media Monkey/Isotope Ozone (which makes mp3s sound like new vinyl with a brand new needle) that and AnyDVD for cloning/burning DVDs. There aren’t comparable Linux versions for these. Otherwise my laptop would be full on Ubuntu as well – as an OS Ubuntu is on par with Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7. It uses less resources and if you use the SuperOS 9.10 configuration, it is as easy to install as any piece of software. Wireless mouse and wireless keyboard [An essential part of any decent laptop setup ] works perfect out of the box with no need to search for drivers. If you want to use Ubuntu as a dual boot [optional use] install install Wubi and then just pick Ubuntu when the computer boots up. Again, a very simple installation.

And using Google-Fu, you can get any answer to any question you might have. Using a Ubuntu app called WINE, I can run most must have Windows software and games through an emulator, so most Windows games work fine on Ubuntu.

In summary – give me the ability install the amazing DSP plugin Ozone to work on a Linux MP3 media player, combined with the ability to remove media protections from DVDs using Linux software and I will go to Ubuntu full on on my laptop and Microsoft will no longer be part of my life..
