Thirteen years old.. 1977. Watched Star Wars at the Cooper Theater on Colorado Boulevard for my birthday. Boy Scout summer camp. Conqueror of the 8th grade. That year rocked.

1. My third birthday was pretty stellar. I got a snazzy tricycle and mobility made the world my oyster to explore. I have an unusually good memory, and I still recall the joy and energy of being that little. You’d go and go until you just couldn’t go any more. I recall my nieces and nephew at similar ages, and they were exhausting to be around. I’m sure I was equally exhausting to bear.
2. I would be a fireman who also led a church congregation, and somehow found time to be a famous poet–like Nipsey Russell. I’d basically be a literate Victor Marx.
3. Probably bought a fancy shirt. The bank I used was in the mall, so I could deposit, withdraw and spend all in one errand.

1) When I was 8/9 I spent an entire week everyday wading through a little creek near the house and I caught hundreds of crayfish just to see how many I could catch. Then let them all go to try again tomorrow.
