The Friday Fives

1. What movie has the greatest opening of all time?
The opening scenes of Raiders of the Lost Ark with the resolve of the Paramount logo onto the mountain top and then down to Indy walking through the jungle – genius.

2. Which sitcom character was the worst human being EVER?
Ross from “Friends” is a terrible person who needs to get into therapy for his agro-ego-filled jealousy.

3. What’s the worst sitcom, and why?
Three Broke Girls is just plain awful. Terrible premise and bad writing. I couldn’t watch it.

4. What classic T.V. Series has the Best Theme Song?
Barney Miller.

5. What would you do if a duck attacked you?
I get chased/attacked by geese at my office parking lot from time to time. I stop and stare them down. I can’t imagine a raving mad duck would be any different.

  1. 1. Robert Altman began “The Player” with an extremely long continuous action shot that lasted for several minutes. It was shot in one long, lucky take. A film like “Birdman” had the benefit of all kinds of technology to attempt to achieve the same effect (on a grander scale), but Altman’s old-school technique wins in my book.

    2. “Two And A Half Men.” Pick a character. Any character. Awful.

    3. “Suddenly Susan.” Almost nonsensical and completely devoid of character development.

    4. “The Beverly Hillbillies.”

    5. I would grab it by it’s stupid neck, and rip out it’s liver. And then make a lovely pate’.

  2. 1) Jaws. The girl swimming and then the gurgling screams as she is dragged under the water. Talk about tension!

    2) Charlie Sheens character on two and a half men.

    3) Caveman. A sitcom based on a Gieco commercial? No seriously they tried it.

    4) M.A.S.H.

    5) Punt for distance.
