Friday Fives

1. What type of mood are you generally in on a rainy day? I like the occassional rainy day. I have some great energy and good moods on a rainy day. Now, if we have a string of rainy days, my energy gets sapped and I can get in a funky mood. I honestly don’t know how they do it in the Pacific coast when they have days and days of rain and overcast skies.

2. What are your favorite things to do when the weather is gloomy? I listen to Eddie Rabbit. No, not really. But on a weekend rainy day, Ed, Julz and I have made it a habit on a rainy day to frequent Sanchos Broken Arrow for a few too many beers.

3. Have you ever been kissed in the rain? Not that I can recall. What kind of question is this? Some sort of movie screen test? Do I look like Gene Kelly?

4. After the rain stops, do you continue what you were doing, or do you run outside to do something else? I guess it depends on the task at hand. I am not a home builder or acreage farmer. It is not like the rain will keep me from my twenty mule team. I rarely come up out of the bunker anyway, so sunshine at time can be moot. ···

5. What is your favorite drink/food to have when it’s raining outside? Tomato Soup and Toasted Cheese Sammiches.

  1. 1. Kind of giddy, really, as it rarely rains here in Denver. However, if the rainy spell lasts more than a couple of days I get gloomy.

    2. Going out to a movie is fun—hearing the thunder rumbling in the distance, and then escaping to a far-off destination via the magic of cinema. Also, on rainy days I do enjoy hanging out with friends in a bar, amusing one another with playful raillery.

    3. I’m guessing yes. Did it make any distinct impression on me? No.

    4. After the rains, I like to slip on my rubbers, and go play in the puddles. (Sheesh that sounded filthy.) Actually, once the rain stops, it’s time to get back to whatever I had planned to do. Unless I’m already too drunk. Which happens sometimes. Don’t give me that look.

    5. As a boy in Belgium, a rainy day called out for a steaming bowl of cassoulet. Confit of duck, rustic sausages and slowly simmered beans just scream “rainy day” in my book.

Okay. Actually nothing comes to mind. I do like to drink stingers on snowy days though

  2. 1) Like the rain. Had chance to live in Seattle and loved it! Rain and all that jazz.

    2) Movies.

    3) Yes. Kissed and groped.

    4) Never considered what I do when it stops, but I suspect I stop the kissing and groping for something more productive (not reproductive)

    5) Water.

  3. 1. I LOVE it when it rains. I, too, lived in Seattle and greatly enjoyed it. And the monsoons of Singapore were quite fun, too. Rain makes me giddy.

    2. Sitting in a boho cafe and watching the rain while sipping a latte and reading an engrossing book is a favorite.

    3. Reid and I have made out while watching it rain, and likely while in it as well (knowing us).

    4. When it stops raining, I am likely to rush outside as I love the smell left by a good rain and I especially like rainbows (hmm, I’m starting to sound rather simple)…

    5. Rain makes me crave soup and pricey coffee drinks.

  4. !) I’m strangely productive when it’s raining outside. Thanks to Mark & Robert, today is the first day we’ve had without rain! I think their powers are waning.

@) Typically I enjoy reading near a window but movies are also nice!

#) I have! Thom kissed me while wandering through Central Park in the rain. The rain here is very warm & refreshing (until it stops & then it’s just humid).

$) Here I keep doing what I’m doing because after the rain, it’s just muggy & slightly unpleasant.

%) The same as any other time: vodka. I’m simple.
