The Friday Fives

1. What feelings do you want to experience more often?

Well, sure – joy. Who doesn’t want to live in bliss and joy?

2. Do you believe that “everything happens for a reason?”

Karma is a bitch. I think there is a Yin and Yang to the world and balance but not a full-on tit for tat kismet.

3. Do you believe in “toxic positivity”?

Yes – it can blur reality when you live in a world where nothing ever goes wrong.

4. When friends come to you to vent, is your response more empathetic or solution-oriented?

I tend to default to problem-solving mode but have learned over the years that often my job is to just listen as folks work through their issue and often come to their own solution.

5. What is the saddest movie, song, or story that you know?

“Night” by Ellie Wiesel.

    2. I do most the time.

    3. Absolutely. Shit ain’t new and pretty just ’cause it has a new coat of paint on it.

    4. Definitely solution oriented, although I am starting to transition to empathy ’cause I don’t know much.

    5. Avengers: Endgame. Iron Man dies…spoiler alert.

  2. 1. Ridges. Everything is better with ridges. Ruffles. Condoms.

    2. Oh fuck no. The good die young and the the evil won’t die. (Cases in point, Don Simpson, Don Trump).

    3. As I’d never heard the term before, I guess I do not.

    4. My default stance is to actively listen. If I can add or clarify I will, but listening/being heard is the real benefit.

    5. “Five Degrees Below Zero,” a song by Richmond Fontaine. The protagonist walks out into a blizzard in the Nevada desert–facing certain death–because he can’t stand his life anymore. The songwriter, Willie Vlautin has gone onto become an acclaimed novelist.

  3. 1) Id like to be content. It seems like I can’t get to a point where I’m content these days.

    2) Yes, and sometimes that reason is because you’re a fucking idiot who made a shitty choice.

    3) I don’t even know what that means. ????

    4) I think I’m more the solution sort of person but I can be empathetic with my offering of a solution.

    5) Schindler’s List, if you aren’t a crying mess at the end of that movie are you human?
