Friday Fives

1. What four things do you need to do this weekend?
It is a big birthday extravaganza weekend. I need to find out the plan, buy a present and go to the celebration. Oh yeah, and vacume.

2. What were the last three things you purchased?
Gas, bottled water, prescription refills.

3. The name of your very first best friend?
I am surrounded by many, many dear dear and close friends. But the very best friend, who has joined me in the pledge to destroy the other’s porn in case of a major tragedy or indcident, that would be Ed. (Oops. I totally read this question wrong! My very first Best friend was a neighbor kid, Clancy Kingsbury. We were inseparable up until his family moved to Rapid City, SD. )

4. What does it say in the signature line of your emails?

5. If you had vanity plates on your car, what would they read? If you already have them, what do they say?
“OMCSTYL” = OMC (Old Man Car) Style.

  1. 1. Get my hair cut, exercise, stay sober on Sunday, and buy groceries. I’m a bit off of my “routine” these days.

    2. Campari, unfiltered sake, and Sauvignon Blanc. I got stuck on the phone whilst in Argonaut, so I had extra time to browse.

    3. I have a number of great friends who provide sustenance in a lot of different ways. Of course Roy (my porn buddy) is an essential part of my friend. Sage, my urban mom is also an important crutch. Fun Shelly, my catty bitch friend, makes me laugh like no other. I could go on and on. . .but I won’t. .. . don’t feel bad if you didn’t make the list. This 1,000 character thing is a bitch.

  4. 1. take care of mark & robert’s house (check). drink booze (check). go to the store (nope). fix the closet door (nope).

    3. mike dowd was my very first best friend. that all fell apart when i moved to evergreen in 1984. but i quickly made two of my current best friends, Jordan and Jeffrey.

    5. i wouldn’t dare get a vanity plate. you see, i don’t need anyone easily remembering my license plate after i bean them with a rubber ball, throw mashed potatoes at them, or punch them in the mouth. i guess if i *had* to, it would be “timebmb”.

  5. 1. Laundry, keep an eye on M&R’s house, visit Gramma & pick up suitcase for Costa Rica.

    3. When I was 6-8 years old in London, it was Emma Royden, daughter of a wealthy English family. They even had a huge country estate with horses, butlers, rivers stocked with salmon, etc. Overwhelming to a girl from Niwot.

  6. (please forgive my tardiness, and my answers are modified to reflect the passing of the weekend at the time of my post)
    1. The 4 things I did were: poach pears, drink with Our Boy Eddie and Doodle, smoke too much and sleep all day Sunday.
    2. A 50’s turquoise rotary phone, Enzo’s pizza and compression socks for Adam.
    3. My first best friend was Heather Wildman. Her father was my dad’s business partner. Heather and I were “best friends” for 17 years and then she screwed me over horribly. I’m sure you all have heard of the “Great Kansas Breakdown Caper of 1996 (also known as “The World’s Largest Prairie Dog Is Made of Cement”). That was the culimation of our ill-fated friendship.

  7. Inspired by question #3, I tried to track down my first best friend and through creative Googling found her older brother. Sadly, Emma Royden passed away from a brain tumor on Easter Day 2003 and is buried in Winson Church in Gloucestershire, England near their country home. May she rest in peace.
