Mitchell! (A Mystery Science Theater 3K film) with Jo Don Baker) It could be refilmed with George Clooney or Daniel Craig and made into a decent detective thriller.

Referencing above, take some time, go online and try, just try and watch the original, unedited version of “Manos, Hands of Fate.” Just awful.
3. Conversely, the absolute best, bar none? [defend]
Casablanca. A nearly perfect film, shot for shot, scene for scene.
4. What makes a better movie adaptation: a Nonfiction story or book or a novel to film?
The subject matter is not important – it is the film director and art director and some savvy editing that can take a film from “Okay” to “Great.”
5. Off to youtube – whats a good ‘Tube post/link/scene from a movie that brings back the whole film so you don’t need to rewatch it?

1) Eragon. For fuck sake invest some $$ in the thing.
2) Freddy got Fingered. The Tom Green film is an absolute piece of shit! I was forced to stay due to sitting between Tony and Trevor. Still not happy I wasn’t allowed to walk out.
3) Impossible. But Shawshank Redemption is pretty damn good. The story, the character development, the choice of actors it all just comes together so well.
4) I believe story based in truth will almost always have a leg up on complete fiction. There’s just something about thinking, holy shit this actually happened that is extra powerful.

1) The Stand. Unlike the latest version of “IT”, the Stand has never been done justice with a large budget.
2) Dammit, Greg. No wonder we are friends. I was gonna say Freddy got fingered, but I will go with Zombeavers…I believe it was Roy and Greg that made me…no, forced me…no, raped me with that movie.
3) Again, I was thinking Shawshank…but I will go with another of my favorite movies, Never cry wolf, 1983 movie that sums up a lot about a lot in my thinking.
4) There has been great and horrific of both genres. I suppose a book allows more creative license without serious public blowback. When you start fukking around with real stories and I find out just how much it was fukked with, that can turn a good movie into a “why you do that?” movie.

1. Scooby Doo. The first attempt hit a lot of the right notes, but Freddy and Daphne needed to be recast. (Of course Matthew Lillard would have to return as Shaggy. He was robbed of an Oscar nom IMHO.)
2. Private Resort. It was Johnny Depp’s first movie after Nightmare on Elm Street. It also featured Rob Morrow in his movie debut. The IMDB blurb pretty much sums it up, “The story of two adolescent boys who are guests at a Florida resort for the week-end. Their only interest is, of course, chasing girls.” Remarkably bad.
3. I’m going to go with the 1985 Merchant/Ivory interpretation of “A Room with a View.” Technically it is nearly flawless–I can spot two *possible* continuity errors in a film made with nothing more than eyeballs and cameras. Also, the script captures E.M. Forster’s voice perfectly.
4. My favorite movies are usually based on fiction books. So that is my bias.
